Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today, on the first day of Great Lent, we have begun the reading of the Great Penitential Canon of St. Andrew of Crete, together with the Great Compline. This blessed canon is prayed for deep repentance and the purification of the soul, allowing each of us to humbly begin the spiritual journey of Lent.
The reading of the canon will continue during the first four days of the Fast — Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We invite everyone to join us in church every evening at 6:30 PM for communal prayer.
For those unable to attend in person, a live broadcast will be available, allowing you to join the prayer from your homes.
May these days become a time of spiritual renewal, repentance, and reconciliation with God for each of us!
With prayers,
The Rector of the Ukrainian Orthodox Parish of St. Nicholas in Chicago, USA
Archpriest Volodymyr Kovalchuk
